The exam is in German. Learning it doesn't have to be.

Austria asks for German at A1 level on most first residence applications, including family member, settlement permit and Red-White-Red Card plus. A first application is normally made from abroad, so the certificate usually has to exist before the move does. Some people are exempt, and the authority decides each case. How do you say "My name is Sara" in German?
Use "Ich heiße + name": "Ich heiße Sara". heiße is the ich-form of heißen (to be called).
"Wie heißen Sie?" is the formal way to ask someone's name.
Wie heißen Sie? uses the formal Sie. With a friend you'd ask Wie heißt du? instead.
Match each German phrase with its meaning.
Ich heiße (my name is), Wie heißt du? (what's your name, informal), Freut mich (nice to meet you).
Put the words in order to ask a friend's name.
What's your name?
"Wie heißt du?" — the question word wie (how) + heißt (du-form of heißen) + du.
A classmate asks "Wie heißt du?". Choose the best reply.
Answer with your name: "Ich heiße + name". "Ich heiße Tom." directly answers "what's your name?".
Which word means "the name"?
der Name means "the name" and is masculine, so it takes the article der.
Say your name is Sara and ask a stranger for theirs.
heißen takes -en with Sie and -t with du: Wie heißen Sie, but Wie heißt du.

The exercises above are a sample of the format, not a placement test. They do not predict an ÖSD result. A real sitting is assembled on the server from the official ÖSD A1 blueprint, which is what separates a rehearsal from exam-flavoured quizzes. I don't speak one word of German. Can I really start?

Yes — you're exactly who this was built for. The app runs in your language (one of 36), and every German word on screen opens on tap: its sound, plus its meaning in your language. You're never asked to understand German in order to learn German.

Is this real preparation for the ÖSD A1, or just general German?

The whole course is built around the Austrian ÖSD A1 exam.
